Pueblo is booming.

It's hard not to notice the many construction sites around town. From repaving of roads, building of bridges, and the many new stores popping up across Pueblo. The economy seems to be on an upswing and this could be a great thing for the community.

According to the budget found on the Pueblo Government website, the 2017 budget includes $25 million to spend from the road and bridge fund. This is up from $10 million just two years ago.

Construction began last month to repave Pueblo Boulevard.

The increased spending is due to a combination of more sales tax revenue from previous years and the close to $1 million in retail marijuana taxes collected.

Officials in Pueblo are taking an approach that will reduce the total fund balance but it is an investment overall.

These choices to take better care of the community has brought with it new businesses. Tractor Supply recently opened on North Elizabeth. Just next door will be the location of Sportman's Warehouse later this year.

Tractor Supply Co. recently opened on Pueblo's north side.

Dick's Sporting Goods opened in May along with Ulta Beauty on the cities north side with plenty of other construction in the area.

Shaw, President/ CEO of PEDCO. “Big R continues to prosper and it is great to see them expand and employ so many of our great citizens of Pueblo,” according to a recent Pueblo Economic Development Corp press release,
