Having a field day.

Summer just started and here in Pueblo, Colorado former NFL defensive tackle Antwon Burton hosted his first annual Next Level Performance football camp.

Antwon Burton goes over the plan of the day for the younger athletes.

Over 150 young athletes came out to go through drills and get coached up from Burton, Los Angeles Ram Morgan Fox, and a group of other athletes from the region.

The football camp was put on by Burton's gym, Next Level Performance, and was held at the Pueblo West High School football field on July 1. Parents in attendance watched as their youngsters ran through drill after drill.

The Cyclone football field provided the space for the camp.

The day began with a group of middle school athletes grouped together for running drills, then separated and went with different coaches and worked at different positions. The drills featured a 20 yard dash, footwork, and medicine ball toss among others.

At noon the high school athletes arrived and worked at the different skills positions ranging from quarterbacking and wide receivers to offensive and defensive line.

Burton knew the turnout would be good but wants more participation next year. "We have about 150 kids out here today, which is good for our first year, and little advertising time, hopefully next year we can get about 500 kids," Burton said.

Kids were smiling and having fun with some winning awards for best performance. All got the opportunity to work with professionals who are trying to help kids reach that next level.
